Care Guide For Dried & Preserved Flowers
Dried and preserved flowers are an excellent way to enjoy long-lasting beauty in your home or special event. Unlike fresh flowers, these blooms don’t require water, and they maintain their beauty for months or even years when properly cared for. Follow these tips to ensure your dried and preserved flowers stay beautiful:
1. Display in a Dry, Cool Location
Keep your dried and preserved flowers in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, or humidity.
Avoid bathrooms or areas with fluctuating temperatures as moisture can damage the flowers.
Displaying your flowers in a shadowed area or under glass (e.g., in a shadow box or vase with a lid) will help preserve their shape & colour.
2. Keep Away from Direct Sunlight
Dried and preserved flowers can fade over time when exposed to direct sunlight. While they’re less sensitive than fresh flowers, prolonged exposure to UV light will cause colours to fade.
For maximum colour retention, place your flowers in an area where they won’t be in direct sunlight, or consider displaying them in a glass case or frame.
3. Dust
Dried and preserved flowers will naturally accumulate dust. To keep them looking fresh, gently dust them with a soft brush (a paintbrush or makeup brush works well), or use a hairdryer on a low, cool setting to blow off dust.
Avoid using a cloth, as it may cause petals or stems to break off or damage the delicate flowers.
4. Avoid Excessive Handling
Since dried and preserved flowers are fragile, it’s best to minimise handling. The more you touch them, the more likely they are to break or become damaged.
If you need to move them, do so gently and with care. Make sure your hands are dry to prevent any oils or moisture from transferring to the flowers.
